The skin is the largest organ of the body, and therefore, it deserves care and attention. While men may find that they do not want to spend too much time on their skin, there is a way that you can enjoy healthier, clearer skin while spending little time at all in front of the mirror. Check out this skin care regimen for men:
Put down that bar of soap! Yes, it may be tempting to use a bar of soap on your face, but it could result in dry skin. If you are the type of man who would rather wash in the shower, place a liquid face wash within reach so that you can clean your face in two seconds flat. A wash that lathers is ideal for oily skin, while a creamy cleanser is great for those who have itchy or dry skin. A dime-size portion will do, and rub gently using a circular motion. Be extra careful over facial hair.
This step is only needed twice per week. At any store that sells skin care products, you can find a scrub that will help you to get rid of anything clogging your pores. This will cut down on natural grease, as well as the frequency of breakouts if you have oily skin. To exfoliate your skin, take a small portion of the scrub and, using circular motions, gently buffer away dirt, debris, and dead skin cells. This can be done in the shower, as well, and you can exfoliate before or after washing your face – your choice. The only thing you should keep in mind is that twice per week is all you need. Any more can lead to excessive drying.
3. Take Care When Shaving
We all lead busy lives, which can result in men rushing through shaving. This isn’t the best thing for your skin, however. If you like to use shaving cream, apply it and then let it sit for a few minutes. Two or three is usually sufficient, but the point of this is to allow the hair on your face to soften up and be ready for shaving. You can also wet your facial hair in the shower or apply a warm, wet towel to your face prior to shaving.
You don’t need much moisturizer to ensure that your skin is supple. A tiny bit will do, so long as your skin does not feel dry after application. Plenty of moisturizers for men are available wherever skin care products are sold.
5. Protect Your Skin
This is a vital step in regards to a decent skin care regimen for men. Sunscreen is important on any part of your body that goes exposed to the sun – even on cloudy days. Use a sunscreen that protects against UVA rays and UVB rays (aging and burning, respectively). SPF 30 – 50 is ideal. If you work outdoors, apply a thin coat every two hours. Don’t go overboard on your application, as too thick of a layer can clog pores and lead to breakouts.
