ED Treatment Options You Need To Know About

If you walk up to the average man and ask him what ED treatment options are available, he is going to know about Viagra and Cialis. These two may dominate the market, but they are not the only solutions available. Currently, there are 5 different prescription medications to treat erectile dysfunction. Also, there are many natural options and new research underway. Let’s take a quick look at the 5 current options.

Viagra – Sildenafil is the most well know of all ED treatment options. It was the first medication available to provide real results for men. It is highly effective for most men but does have a few shortcomings. It must be taken at least 30 minutes before attempting sexual activity, and not more than 4 hours in advance. Its effectiveness is reduced if you eat a high-fat meal before taking Viagra. It can only be taken one time per day, so if you desire intimacy both morning and night, it is not a great option.

Cialis – Tadalafil was the second big entry into erectile dysfunction treatment and has some significant advantages over Viagra. First, you can take it as needed, but at least 30 minutes in advance. The advantage is how long it lasts. It can remain effective for up to 36 hours. The second method of using Cialis is to take a single tablet daily, and always have the benefits of the medication. Cialis makes some people dizzy. The dizziness becomes more extreme with the use of alcohol or marijuana.

Levitra – Vardenafil would be the third most recognized name in the ED industry. Levitra must be taken at least 1 hour before sexual activity, which can be a mood killer. You need to avoid grapefruit when using Levitra. It is not recommended to mix alcohol and Levitra. It does last longer than Viagra, so is often a better choice if you want to take the medication early in the evening and be ready for the night.

Staxyn – Vardenafil – As you can guess since both Levitra and Staxyn use the same base component, they have similar advantages and shortcomings. The difference is in how the tablets enter your body. Staxyn is a self-dissolving tablet, without the outer coating. It still requires a full hour to become completely effective.

Stendra – Avanafil – The biggest advantage to Stendra is you can have up to 3 drinks (alcohol) and not lose the effectiveness of the medication. It can be taken on an empty stomach or after eating. It is one of the quickest working choices. You can take it 15 minutes before sexual activity, with 30 minutes considered as optimal.

These are the five solutions you will likely hear about from your doctor, but new treatments are coming fast. Uprima and Topiglan are making their appearance in the market. They work a little differently and may become a better choice for many users.

If your ED issues are not severe, you may want to try herbal options which are often safer and still effective.

The future looks exciting, too. There are several gene therapy options being studied which may provide long-term solutions, compared to day-by-day fixes.

Hopefully, this quick overview helps you understand your options for ED treatment.
